Anatomy Essentials is the starting point for understanding the body and how it moves, and is a prerequisite for completing both Matwork and Reformer Essentials.
This course is designed to give you more than just surface-level knowledge. You’ll learn how to apply anatomical principles directly to Pilates, helping you cue with clarity, recognise movement patterns, and teach with purpose.
Completing this course ahead of your in-person matwork and reformer course allows us to dedicate more time to practical training, giving you greater opportunity to practice, refine, and build real confidence.
By the end of this course, you’ll have a clear understanding of anatomical terminology, bones, joints, and muscles, and how they relate to movement in Pilates.
Anatomy Essentials combines self-paced online learning with a online practical workshop to ensure you feel prepared, supported, and confident applying anatomy to your teaching.
You will learn:
Anatomical terminology and how to apply it in a Pilates setting
Bones, joints, and how the body is structured
Muscles and how they contribute to movement
How anatomy relates directly to Pilates exercises and programming
How to recognise movement patterns and common compensations
How to use your knowledge to support safe, effective teaching
This course focuses on understanding how the body works in movement, not just memorising information, giving you knowledge you can actually apply in practice.
No prerequisites are required to enrol in this course.
Complete 20 hours of self-paced online learning, with time for review and memorisation, to prepare for your online practical session.
A 6-hour online workshop focused on reviewing key concepts, consolidating your learning, and giving you the opportunity to ask questions and feel fully prepared.
Complete a final online exam to demonstrate your understanding of the course material.

If you have completed a relevant anatomy qualification, you may be exempt from this requirement.
This may include:

Everything you need to feel confident getting started
No prior teaching experience is required. You should have completed at 12 reformer classes prior to enrolling.
Many of our students begin their journey simply because they love Pilates and want to deepen their understanding. If you already have a background in movement or fitness, that experience will support your learning, but it’s not essential.
Each course includes a hands-on intensive where you’ll put your online learning into practice. You’ll spend time moving, observing, cueing, and teaching in a supportive and collaborative environment. Expect to learn, laugh, and leave feeling confident and inspired.
Each course varies slightly, but most students complete their training and assessments within three to six months, depending on their schedule and study pace.

We don’t offer refunds for our courses, outside of the 48-hour cooling off period. In unforeseen circumstances, requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
If illness prevents you from attending, a valid medical certificate is required, and you’ll be offered a place in the next available course.
You’ll need a current CPR and First Aid certificate and insurance coverage before teaching. Obtaining insurance is a simple process once you’ve received your Move certificate. Some gyms or studios may also request a Cert III in Fitness, but this is uncommon.
If you already know where you’d like to teach, we recommend confirming their specific requirements. Our team will guide you through this as part of your transition into teaching.
